Marcus Headicar - Senior Account Manager, Melbourne
Marcus Headicar joined Sapphire Technologies in January 2005 as a Recruitment Consultant. With a background in ICT support roles, Marcus was focused on resourcing candidates across Sapphire Technologies' client base in Melbourne.
In August 2005 Marcus was promoted to the position of Account Manager and then Senior Account Manager in January 2007. Marcus gives us a brief overview of his career with Sapphire Technologies to date.
What was your role when you first started at Sapphire Technologies and what is your current role? Explain the journey.
I started at Sapphire Technologies as a Recruitment Consultant, predominantly responsible for candidate management and sourcing. After a few months I was eager to be given more responsibility and gain more control over the end-to-end process. I was rewarded with a promotion to Account Manager, which
is client facing, has revenue responsibilities and a business development component. I have aimed to be a consistent performer by meeting and exceeding my clients' expectations and in turn my sales targets for Sapphire Technologies. I have been supported along the way with ongoing training and on the
job guidance. Sapphire Technologies has recognised my efforts over the last 18 months by giving me another promotion, to that of Senior Account Manager.
What has made you stay with Sapphire Technologies in your career so far?
I like the fact that there is a good core of consultants who have stayed with the business for a number of years. This seems to be quite a rare thing in recruitment! It is good to be a part of a stable group who know how to be successful, and who know how to have fun as well.
Do you feel Sapphire Technologies encourages people to achieve their potential?
Yes. There is always training available and there is always an opportunity to learn something new. One program in particular provides training and direction in how to be a successful mentor, which is something that I have just started. It is another opportunity to develop my skills and one that I may
not have had access to elsewhere.
