Community Support
We have a strong commitment to supporting the community and we encourage our employees to participate in a range of events and corporate volunteering opportunities. Here are some highlights from last year:
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
In September 2006, our NSW teams kicked off an eight-week campaign to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the world's leading non-profit contributor to diabetes (type 1) research. A range of interesting fundraising events were initiated across our teams, including a senior
management slave auction and raffles, which culminated in the "Walk for the Cure" on Sunday 15th October. With 92 staff and family members putting on their walking shoes, a great day was had by all and a total of $15,000 was raised for this worthy cause.
Fred Hollows Foundation
To encourage our clients to participate in the Vedior Asia Pacific Pty Limited Employment Trends Survey 2006-07, we provided a donation to the Fred Hollows Foundation, for every complete survey. The Foundation seeks to eradicate avoidable blindness in developing countries and improve the health outcomes
of indigenous Australians. As a result of the survey, we were proud to donate over $3500.
Movember
Movember is a charity event held during November each year. It is aimed at changing the face of men's health. We have a number of Movember participants who commit to growing their moustache and, along the way, raising as much money and awareness about male health issues as possible.
Christmas Donations
At Christmas, we continue our support of Children's Hospitals across Australia and Canteen in New Zealand through our annual Christmas card donations. Our major donation last year helped the Children's Hospital at Westmead to purchase wheelchairs and a dental operating cart, used in surgery to correct
cleft palates and trauma caused by cancer and car accidents.
In Sydney, our teams also support Barnado's. In 2006, we donated over 150 presents to children in need and we're looking forward to making many more kids happy for years to come.
